Hello mom's!! I will be new (step) mom to a 4yr old little boy and me and his father will be taking him to WDW for the first time December 2013. I have been many times. How should we handle the 2hr flight and hours in the park? Thanks

Hi Cat!  First, congratulations on becoming a step mom.  It seems you have found the perfect way to celebrate! When my children were younger, I would bring plenty for them to do on the plane to keep them busy.  If I was lucky, they would fall asleep!  :)  Anyway, some of things I would bring were movies to watch, games to play, special snacks and I even had Mickey and Minnie hand puppets to play with.  Another thing I would bring is an empty sippy cup and when drinks were offered, I had a spill proof cup ready to go.  If you think the air pressure during take off and landing will bother him, consider purchasing EarPlanes for his ears (you can find these at most drug stores).

Once you are in the parks, my best recommendation would be to go at your step-son's pace.  He'll probably be up bright and early ready to see Mickey but by mid-day, he may be ready for a nap or a nice swim in the resort pool.  As far as waiting in lines at the attractions, you may want to carry a couple small games or snacks (and always have water available) in a back pack to help keep him occupied.  Thankfully my children were pretty patient as they enjoyed checking out all the nooks and crannies while waiting in line.

I hope you have a fabulous vacation!  Diane
