With the new "rope drop" at MK, what does this mean for people who have early breakfast in the park before it officially opens ? Are the other guests only permitted at the front of the park until rope drop?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Haylie! Rope Drop and early mornings in the park are my family’s favorite ways to pack more fun into our day! We have an early park breakfast scheduled at Cinderella’s Royal Table this summer and I’m keeping it a secret from the kids!

Rope drop occurs in Magic Kingdom when the parks opens, but Main Street U.S.A. opens up to an hour before official opening. About 10 minutes before the park opens, the welcome show, Let The Magic Begin will take place on the Cinderella Forecourt Stage, and then the ropes will drop to the various lands. Guests who have an early breakfast prior to park opening will see a Cast Member at the touchpoints entrance (typically there is a sign posted for meal reservations) and you’ll be able to check in and enter the park. No attractions will be open before it’s time, and you may be escorted to guided to your restaurant. My family had a Hollywood & Dine reservation last year and once we checked in, were let into the park ahead of the crowd and Cast Members guided us to the restaurant. We also had the luck of Jedi Training sign-ups opening moments before our meal and were able to secure a place in line for that, too!

If I can help with any other planning tips please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
