I see many of the new room renovations at Disney resorts remove bathtubs in favor of standing showers. I have a disabled child who cannot tolerate shower sprays. We have a stay at Port Orleans Riverside this fall. Are there still rooms with tubs? Thanks!

Hi Amanda, and welcome back to planDisney! We’re always so happy when you send your questions our way. It looks like you’re planning a visit to one of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort hotels. You will feel like you’re right down in New Orleans at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside! We want to make sure these rooms will meet your child’s needs though, so let’s dig a little deeper.

The new room renovations are absolutely beautiful and have all of the charm of my favorite Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog! These renovations to date are primarily in the Magnolia Bend area of the resort. Many of the rooms do still have a bathtub that now has a sliding door, but not all do. Some only have a stand-up shower. While the recent renovation project has not yet reached Alligator Bayou, it may later this year. For now, most rooms in that area have a tub with a shower curtain.

I find that looking at virtual tours online can be especially helpful in getting a view of the rooms before your visit. If you check YouTube, you should see many room tours of both recently renovated rooms in Magnolia Bend and the rooms in Alligator Bayou. I also highly recommend that you call to speak with a Cast Member to put a request on your reservation for a room with a bathtub. While room requests are not typically guaranteed, in my experience, Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members will do everything they can to accommodate your needs.

Amanda, I hope this helps you as you make plans for your visit to the bayou at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside! While you’re there, be sure to take a boat ride down the Sassagoula River to Disney Springs or a stroll over to Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter for beignets! Tiana would tell you your visit to New Orleans isn’t complete without them! If you have any more questions, you know where to find us. We would be delighted to help add more pixie dust to your Disney vacation planning!
