Hello, we will be new FL residents in a week and are looking into getting annual passes. IF the Pirate Pass would become available later on would we be able to upgrade to that and pay the difference or would we have to wait until our year is up? Thanks!

Hey Howdy Hey Maria and welcome to planDisney!

It is so exciting to hear you will become Florida residents soon and have the ability to visit Walt Disney World Resort on a much more consistent basis! In this case, annual passes are definitely the way to go. I would gladly give you a little more insight into navigating these waters.

When it comes to annual passes for Walt Disney World, at the time of this writing, the Disney Pixie Dust Past is the only one that is available and it is for Florida residents only. Currently, the sale of all new annual passes is paused. If you were to purchase the Pixie Dust pass now and in the future, all other sales are resumed, in most cases, you should be able to upgrade your pass to a new level. As you mentioned, you will be responsible for the difference, but it is possible to upgrade your pass!

One tip that I have for you moving forward with your purchase of these passes or theme park tickets in general, is to make sure you have your Florida resident identification ready! You will need proper identification when it comes to activating your annual pass or Florida resident theme park tickets. There are a few different ways you can verify your residency, just make sure you have one of them with you when you go to the parks for the first time!

Best of luck on your move to Florida and I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy being a little closer to the Magic of Walt Disney World on the regular! Please feel free to stop back with any further questions you may have, we would be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,
