Hi new panel my 1st ? for ya'll. DH and I ar going to WDW May 2011 for anniv during his R&R in mid deploy. We stayed at GF at XMAS , it was great. Can't decide for this trip GF or BWI. Want a quiet yet fun time. Never stayed BWI. Any suggestions? Thank

    Lisa:

Welcome to the Panel for your first question! First of all, thank you for the sacrifice you are making while your husband is deployed. My brother-in-law got back in December from a one-year deployment to Iraq, and I know how excited you will be to have your husband home for a respite!

If you enjoyed the Grand Floridian, I think you'll fall in love with the Boardwalk Inn! First of all, it doesn't sound like the finer appointments of the GF were a con, so I think you'd definitely feel at home at the Boardwalk Inn. I have to say, of all of Disney's resorts, it's probably my favorite or second-fav when it comes to a hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, even down to the bath products. The hotel provides a quiet retreat, especially luring for a couple like you getting away. But what you'll find that sets it apart from the Grand Floridian is its location!

Situated on Disney's Boardwalk, the area is hoping at night! In May, the weather will be perfect for a stroll around Crescent Lake, day or night. The shopping, the dining and the night life makes it a good choice for couples: from Jellyroll's piano bar to ESPN's sports bar, you'll find something the two of you can enjoy outside of the parks.

And speaking of parks, it's a five-minute walk to the back gate of EPCOT and a 15-minute walk or 20-minute boat ride to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

My advice: do Disney a different way and book the Boardwalk!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
