    Will we get the new magic bands?My kids will not wear the bands on the wrist and I'd like to get them the clip. How much is the clip? Or would I be able to put their chip in a plastic ID tag? Would it still scan in a ID tag?

    Hi Jacqueline!

    I'm super excited about the next generation of MagicBands! The MagicBand 2 design was first revealed back in November, and they've now begun shipping to guests with upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacations.

    The new bands will work like the current MagicBands, but are more customizable than the originals. The center piece is removable and can be placed in lanyard clips and carabiners (called MagicKeepers) for those who prefer not to wear them on their wrist.

    The new edition of the MagicBand is already available on the Disney Store website, as well as the Shop Disney Parks App. At this time, MagicKeepers have not yet been released. I'm hoping they will begin selling them very soon! I haven't yet tested the technology of the chip outside of the band, so I'm not sure if the chip would scan inside of a plastic ID tag.
