New DVC members making 1st DVC plans for 1st week of Dec 2013. We have been to WDW 3 times prior. Any suggestions for us as new DVC members to make our trip extra special? Thinking of splitting our stay between 2 resorts~any tips to make a smooth switch?

    Hi Stacie,

Let me be one of the first to say, "Welcome Home!"  Your first trip as a Disney Vacation Club Member is so special.

One recommendation I have for you is to attend Welcome Home Wednesday.  This Disney Vacation Club member event is held most Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. at Atlantic Dance Hall on Disney's BoardWalk.   It is a fun, participatory, informational good time.  When we have gone, we have been surprised with free snacks and have collected many Disney Vacation Club baseball hats.  Please do not expect these perks, but they may happen!  The schedule and place are subject to change, so do check the folder of information you receive upon check-in at your resort for information about Welcome Home Wednesday including time and place.

Also, as your first trip as a Disney Vacation Club Member, relax, and enjoy!  You have purchased membership in Disney Vacation Club and now you know that for years to come, you will be able to return to Walt Disney World.  You don't have to rush to get everything in, because if you don't this time, you will next time.  My family and I particularly enjoy taking advantage of the Community Halls at the Disney Vacation Club resorts.  You can relax, play a game, color, and just generally take it easy with your family.

Our family recently began doing split stays at resorts, and I have to say, I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been.  One tip for this is that if you like, Disney will handle your luggage transfer for you.  Just stop at the front desk of your resort and ask to have your luggage transferred to the next resort.

I hope that this information is helpful, Stacie!  I'm so excited for you to hear those magical words when you arrive at Walt Disney World for the first time as a Disney Vacation Club Member, "Welcome home."
