We are new DVC members, if we decide to stay at our home resort but are not entering the parks, do we still have use of the transportation to visit other resorts and Downtown Disney?

    Hi Bernice,

Welcome home!  I'm so glad that you have joined the Disney Vacation Club.

The answer to your question is yes.  Even if you are not going to the parks, you can still take advantage of Disney transportation to get to other locations at Walt Disney World, including Downtown Disney and other resorts.  The Disney Vacation Club resorts will all have transportation service directly to Downtown Disney.

In order to go from one resort to another, you can certainly use Disney transportation; however, you will most often need to change transportation as there are not direct resort to resort transportation lines.  The simplest way to do this is typically to take transportation from your resort to any of the four theme parks, and then walk to the bus stop for the resort that you want to go to.  For instance, if you want to go from Disney's Boardwalk Villas to the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, you could take a boat from Disney's Boardwalk Villas to Disney's Hollywood Studios, and from there catch a bus to the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

Be sure to ask a cast member at your resort what are the best resort to resort transportation options.  They may have some great advice specific to your resort.  For example, from Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom bus stop and catch a bus to any other resort from there.  The distance from Disney's Boardwalk Villas to Disney's Beach Club Villas is a short walk.

Have a wonderful vacation Bernice, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.  It will be truly magical the first time you hear those words, "Welcome home."
