I am a (new) DVC member (since 2021) and I want to save my current 2023 points for a longer family trip. Can I pay cash for a smaller trip instead of using those points so I can use them later?

Hey there, hi there, Nicola! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home, new neighbor! I'm so happy that you've stopped by with your Disney Vacation Club question! It makes my day to chat Disney with a fellow Member!

For me, one of the most magical things about a Disney Vacation Club Membership is the flexibility. I love being able to borrow Vacation Points from my next Use Year to complete an upcoming vacation stay or bank Vacation Points from my current Use Year to save up Points for a big dream vacation in the future. The combination of possible pixie-dusted vacations is endless! I'm thrilled to help you maximize your Membership magic!

I think you will be happy to hear that you can absolutely save your 2023 Vacation Points to Use at a later date, and once your Use Year begins, you can even bank your Vacation Points into the next Use Year to use in the future. Just be aware that Points can only be banked once, and you do have a banking deadline, which is about eight months after your Use Year begins. Now, let's chat about how you can use your Membership for magical getaways without having to use up your Vacation Points.

First, did you know that you can purchase up to 24 One-Time-Use Points every Use Year?! You can purchase these Points by calling Member Services at the time of booking once you are within your seven-month booking window. I have purchased these Points several times, and the last time I did, it was to add an extra night to a split stay birthday celebration. Points equal magic, and more magic is always better!

Next, if you'd like to pay cash for a stay in Disney Vacation Club accommodations, I recommend calling Member Services to check the cash room availability. While discounts are subject to change, Members can get up to 25 percent off stays in certain available DVC Resorts. Just another example of Membership magic!

I hope this was helpful, Nicola, and I'm wishing you a lifetime of magical memories with your new magical Membership. Please stop by any time with any vacation planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. When I first became a DVC Member, I had a ton of questions, so, ask us anything! You've got a friend in planDisney!

    See ya real soon,

    Mandy
