Shelby from TX Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

w/ the new digital ride switch do all the parties need a FP? for example if Adult1 and Kid1 FP for Flight of Passage and Adult 2 and Kid2 FP for safari. Then Adult2 can use rider swap for Flight of Passage w/out needing a FP for it?

Thanks for returning to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Shelby! My family has been well acquainted with Rider Switch Service since our daughter was born a few years ago. Until she’s tall enough to join us on the family coasters, this program perk is our BFF!

I’ll help detail how my family uses FastPass+ and Rider Switch to get the most fun out of our day. Last summer when our family was exploring Pandora: The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I made a FastPass+ reservation for my husband and son. We approached the line as a family and asked for Rider Switch. Then, while Baby girl and I drummed and explored the foliage (we could have escaped over to the Safaris if we wanted to), Dad and son rode via the FP+ queue . Since the return Rider Switch Pass allows the companion and a buddy to return at a set time to ride via the FP+ queue, I took my Son with me to ride. So the short answer, is yes! Adult2 doesn’t need a FP if they are the “waiting companion” to baby/Kid2. They can also take Kid1 on another ride as their buddy. You’ll find that the return Rider Switch passes will be digitally scanned into your MagicBands, so be sure to have your Rider Switch “waiting companion” and buddy party pre-selected.

If I can help you learn about more ways to travel with a preschooler or a baby at Walt Disney World Resort, please let me know. I’ve got some tips I know you’ll love. I’ll see ya real soon! ~ Lindsey P.
