When does the new DAS system go into effect. I’m going in May and rely on DAS due to a chronic illness. Just wondering if I have time to get a doctors note or if it’s not needed

Hey there, Megan, and welcome to planDisney!

The countdown to your Most Magical vacation is officially on! May will be here before you know it, so it’s great that you stopped by to visit us to get the most up-to-date information about changes coming to Walt Disney World Resort. The Disability Access Service is a useful service for Guests who aren’t able to wait in the standby queue for an extended amount of time due to an eligible disability. Let’s get into what you’ll need to do to start this registration process.

Before your vacation, you’ll want to talk to a Cast Member online using a video chat (or in-person, if visiting before May 20, 2024) to determine which services will be best to fit your needs. When determining your eligibility, documentation like a doctor’s note is not required at all. Instead, you will have an in-depth conversation with the Cast Member.

If you are cleared to use DAS, a photo will be taken of you as the registered Guest. Up to 3 additional party members (or all of the members of your immediate family) can join you when using the return times for the Lightning Lanes. DAS is valid for up to 120 days, but if you register now (before May 20, 2024) it’s only valid for up to 30 days.

I hope that this information helps, Megan! Please let us know how we can help you as you plan your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World. Revisit us here at planDisney; we are more than happy to lend a Mickey hand.

    Magic always,
