Welcome to planDisney, Paul! We are a group of guests who have so much experience planning Disney vacations that we spend our free time helping others plan their own!
As a mom of many, and now a Gramma, I am quite familiar with
Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It is the favorite attraction for so many children and the only one found in all six Disney theme parks around the world. When the indoor playground was added during the major refurbishment to Dumbo in
Magic Kingdom Park several years ago, it was big news in my family. We were excited for the kids to have something fun to do while they waited. We didn't predict that the playground itself would be so much fun that we could barely pull our kids away to actually ride the attraction!
Since last year, the upper portion of this playground has been closed due to needed repairs. At this time, Disney has still not made any official announcement as to when or if it will fully open again.
EPCOT offers several play areas for kids of different age ranges. SpaceBase is located at the exit of
Mission: SPACE and is a big hit. You can skip the attraction and enter through the gift shop,
Mission: SPACE Cargo Bay. World Discovery Playground can be found between
Creations Shop and
Test Track. The theming changes throughout the year, depending on the current festival.
Disney's Hollywood Studios will debut a new
Alice in Wonderland-themed playground in September. I am excited to try this out! It will be located in The Magic of Disney Animation.
I'm sorry I don't have a solid answer for you, Paul. I hope that the full area is open in time for your next visit to
Walt Disney World Resort. If you have any more questions, please come back and see us at
planDisney. We're always happy to help!
