My nephew is FINALLY tall enough for Space Mountain. Now what do we do with FastPass+? What is your best tip for managing FastPass+ and rope drop with a kid who wants to do all the mountains and all of Fantasyland? Really all the things at Magic Kingdom!

    Hi ya Megan!

I’m so happy to hEAR that your nephew is finally tall enough to ride to one my favorite Mountains: Space Mountain! I can’t wait for you all to blast off on this rip-roaring rocket together, it’s going to be out-of-this-world!

When it comes to making your FastPass+ selections, I am happy to share with you what my family does when we visit. The good news is, if you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you are able to make those FastPass+ reservations 60 days prior to your arrival! I like to make my 3 FastPass+ selections earlier in the day so that we can schedule a FastPass+ reservation, for a different attraction, later in the day. I recommend selecting one of the Mountains he’s wanting to ride first and going from there. Depending on the times and attractions you first select will help create your “rope drop” plan.

My 5-year old is also a fellow Mountain explorer, his favorite happens to be Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! When we visit, we usually arrive right at rope drop and begin with the attractions in Fantasyland. After that, it is usually time for one of our FastPass+ selections and we head to that ride which, most of the time it’s Space Mountain or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We also use the My Disney Experience Mobile App to help guide us throughout the day. On the mobile app, you are able to check current attraction wait times and modify your FastPass+ selections, it’s the perfect navigator for the day!

If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel I recommend checking to see if there are Extra Magic Hours occurring on the day you are visiting Magic Kingdom Park. Those Extra Magic Hours are the perfect time to enjoy some of the many attractions your nephew is wanting to enjoy. In fact, many of the attractions in Fantasyland are available to be experienced during those Extra Magic Hours!

Megan I’m sure no matter which attractions you choose to enjoy, I know you and your nephew will have a Magical time together! My Mouseketeers have the most fun when they are able to lead the way during our visits and select some of their favorite attractions. It seems as though your nephew already knows what he wants to do and see, which will help you all decide which way to go when you arrive! I hope this helps guide you as you begin selecting your FastPass+ reservations. Hakuna Matata, we are always here to help you along the way so be sure to visit us again if you need any more help.

    See ya real soon!
