Disney Destiny sounds like an excellent time to use the Disney Visa Rewards Dollars that you have saved up, so let me explain the easiest way to use it as a credit onboard.
Everything you purchase onboard during your cruise from
Port Adventures and spa services to specialty drinks and popcorn bucket refills will be charged to your stateroom account. Therefore, the easiest way to use your Disney Rewards balance is to apply the amount as a credit to your stateroom account ahead of embarkation day. In order to do that, you will need to either order a Redemption Card or reload one that you already have with the desired amount from your available balance. Once you have your Disney Rewards Redemption Card in hand, then the next step is applying that balance as a credit to your stateroom account to be used once you step onboard. Start by logging in to your MyDisney account on the Disney Cruise Line website. Then click on the tab labeled “Already Booked” at the top of the screen and select “
Onboard Gifts” located under the “Before You Go” section. Your upcoming reservation should come up with your sail date indicated at the top of the page. Click on the “Shop by Category” option and you will see “Onboard Credit” on the far right of the drop-down menu. Select that option and enter the total amount that you uploaded to your Disney Rewards Redemption Card as your desired amount of credit. When you check-out, you then use that same card as your form of payment and it will place a credit for that amount on your stateroom account. If you do not use the full balance during the time on the ship, then the remainder will be refunded back to your Disney Rewards Redemption Card at the end of your sailing.
I just did the same thing for my Alaskan sailing aboard the Disney Wonder at the beginning of August and it was nice knowing that I had basically already prepaid for some of my Port Adventures before we ever stepped foot onboard. There was even a little card in my stateroom when I boarded to remind me of the amount of credit that was already applied to my stateroom account.
