I need a wheelchair. How do I book that?

    Greetings to you, Teresa!

Welcome to planDisney and we are so happy to see you here! I hope you are having a magical day and I'm glad to have the opportunity to help you with your question.

One of the things I love about visiting the Disneyland Resort is their emphasis on accessibility and making sure that their attractions can accommodate as many people as possible. As far as renting a wheelchair, you have a few options available to you. Let's go over some of them:

    1. Wheelchairs and Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) may be rented by the day on a first-come, first-served basis and are located outside the Theme Parks just east of the Disneyland Main Entrance. They are subject to availability and you are unable to reserve ahead of time, so it is recommended that you arrive early.
    2. ScooterBug is a private mobility rental company and is the Disney Featured Provider for Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests. The benefit with this option would be delivery of your wheelchair to the Bell Services desk of your Resort Hotel and the ability to keep your wheelchair through the length of your stay. At the end of your vacation, you would leave the wheelchair with Bell Services. I spoke to an agent with ScooterBug and she confirmed that they are also able to deliver to the Good Neighbor Hotels in the area as well.
    3. If you perform an Internet search, you will find local third party companies that are able to rent a wheelchair to you, but pick-up and drop-off would need to be arranged through them.

The Disneyland Resort also maintains a list of attractions which will require transferring from your wheelchair to the ride vehicle and might be helpful for you as you plan your day.

I'm so excited that your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth is just over a month away! You're going to love seeing Disneyland Park decked out for the Disney100 Celebration. You'll also be visiting during the Food & Wine Festival at Disney California Adventure. The Disney Parks Blog just released the Foodie Guide for the Festival and I hear a Pineapple-coconut Churro calling my name!

Teresa, I hope you found this useful and that you are able to book your wheelchair without issue. Please feel free to contact us again at planDisney if you need any more tips or advice. We're here to help!

    Have a Magical Day!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
