We need to utilize the DAS pass, does it do the same as the Genie+ pass?

It’s a small world after all, Patricia, and I’m so glad you found your way back to planDisney! I’d love to help you with another question!

There are a lot of things to think about when planning your getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, so I can understand the confusion between these two services. So, I’ll help break it down for you! The Disneyland Resort offers Disability Access Service (DAS) to accommodate Guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue due to a disability. Guests are issued a return time to come back to an attraction and enter through the Lightning Lane. Disney Genie+, on the other hand, is a paid service that allows Guests to use Lightning Lane entrances at a variety of attractions and experiences throughout the theme parks. It also includes fun audio tales and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from your Disney days. I have good news, Patricia – you can use DAS and Disney Genie+ together if you’d like, to make the most of your park days!

To use Disney Genie+, you can make selections (one at a time) using the Disney Genie interface on the Disneyland app. You’ll toggle between the “Tip Board” and “My Day” to make your plans. Then, you’ll receive notifications directly to your phone when it’s time for your next experience. Once it’s your turn, head over to the Lightning Lane entrance within your designated window to scan your barcode to enter – and off you go!

To register for DAS, you have two options. First, you can register at the Disneyland Resort upon arrival at City Hall (in Disneyland Park), Chamber of Commerce (in Disney California Adventure Park), or any Guest Information location. The second, newer option can be done up to 30 days before your visit, but no less than two days in advance. This new benefit of DAS is called DAS Advance, and it involves a live video chat with a Cast Member. During your registration chat, you’ll have the chance to book up to 2 one-hour return windows for select experiences, subject to availability. This is in addition to the regular DAS benefit of making return-time selections upon arrival at the Disneyland Resort.

To help prepare you for using Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lanes, I recommend watching these brief video tutorials – they’re short and sweet, and offer great explanations to help you on your way!

I hope this information helps as you continue planning your May visit to the Disneyland Resort, Patricia! Please stop by with any additional questions… we’re all EARs!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Greetings from sunny California! I live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder (and now a Magic Key Passholder) for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids ages 5-10, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! Learn More About Kristin
