Hello, I need to transfer the management of a child account from myself to the actual parent. I don't know why I'm setup as the manager. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to planDisney Hetal! Thank you for bringing your question our way. It sounds like you’re getting everything organized for a magical Walt Disney World Resort visit, and I’d be happy to help you sort out your My Disney Experience account details. Managing family profiles can sometimes be a little tricky, especially when it comes to linked child accounts, so let’s make sure everything is set up correctly so the right parent can take over management and your plans go as smoothly as possible!

When a child’s profile is created in My Disney Experience, the person who first sets it up automatically becomes the manager of that profile. This usually happens if you were the one who added the child to your Family & Friends list, which might explain why you’re listed as the manager rather than the parent. A child under 13 must have a managed profile, meaning an adult must be responsible for it. However, only Disney Cast Members can officially transfer that management role to another adult.

To fix this, first make sure the parent has their own My Disney Experience account. You and the parent should both be connected through the Family & Friends list in the app or on the website. When you’re connected, you can share planning access for the child so the parent can include them in plans like dining reservations and park passes, even if you remain the manager for now.

If the parent wants to become the full manager of the child’s profile, you’ll need to reach out to Disney’s My Disney Experience support team. This can’t be done directly through the app or website. You can contact Disney’s App Support or by using the “Chat With Us” option in the My Disney Experience app. Once connected, explain that the child’s profile was mistakenly set up under your management and that you’d like the parent to become the manager. A Cast Member can verify the accounts and transfer management properly.

If the parent only needs to plan for the child rather than manage the account completely, it may be easier to just connect them through Family & Friends and allow shared planning. But for full control and profile management, contacting Disney support is the only way to make the official change.

Hetal, I hope this helps make the process of updating your My Disney Experience account a little easier so everything is ready for your family’s next visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth. With everything set up just right, you’ll be able to focus on making magical memories together. Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question, and may your upcoming trip be filled with smiles, wonder, and unforgettable moments from the very first park day to the last!
