I need tips! Planning a trip for January and my husband is anti Disney anything I’m hoping land will change his mind after a poor world experience. What are some suggestions for smooth sailing and happy kids and hubs

Greetings, Cassandra, and thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so sorry to hEAR that your family didn’t have the best experience on your last vacation. I certainly hope we can make up for it this January at the Disneyland Resort

I have several suggestions that can make your vacation less stressful and more magical, and I’m excited to share them with you! First, the good news is that a Disneyland Resort vacation doesn’t require as much pre-planning as a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. However, I do still recommend booking your hotel, theme-park tickets, and a few dining reservations ahead of time. You don’t have to worry about booking FastPass+ selections ahead of your trip (like you would at Walt Disney World Resort) since Disney FASTPASS selections (what's offered at Disneyland Resort) can’t be made until you’ve entered the theme parks.

If you're able to, I highly recommend staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels. Staying on property is simply magical. Not only are you within walking distance to the theme parks and Downtown Disney District, but you also receive special benefits, such as Extra Magic Hour, which allows you into Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park one hour before the general public during every day of your hotel stay (with your valid theme-park ticket). Extra Magic Hour is the perfect time to cross off the “must do” attractions on your list, thanks to shorter wait times.

I also suggest downloading the Disneyland app – it’s the best handy helper inside the parks! My family uses it to make dining reservations, check attraction wait times, find favorite Characters, and utilize Disney MaxPass and Disney PhotoPass. Disney MaxPass can be added to your ticket on a daily basis on the Disneyland app. MaxPass is a great way to make the most of your Disney days! It allows you to make Disney FASTPASS selections from the convenience of your mobile device, which means more time making memories, and less time waiting in line! MaxPass also includes unlimited downloads of your Disney PhotoPass images, which is a great way to preserve your first-time moments!

Lastly, be sure to check out Mobile Ordering, also available on the Disneyland app. This feature has saved me from many toddler meltdowns! Oh, and don’t forget to pick up a complimentary “1st Visit!” button upon arrival at either theme park! I think we'll have your husband wearing a Mickey Mouse Ear Hat by the end of this trip!

Wishing you a magical, pixie-dusted vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 8, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
