    Dolores from AZ Asked

Do I need to have tickets in hand before reserving days

Hello, Dolores. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.

I'm excited to see that you are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World this fall! October is a wonderful time to visit. I love all of the festive fall decor around the parks. It makes for some really cute pictures.

Dolores, you will need to purchase tickets to Walt Disney World and link them to your MyDisneyExperience account before making your park pass reservations. Currently, you can choose from two ticket options. The first is a standard theme park ticket which allows you to visit one Walt Disney World Theme Park each day of your vacation. The other option is a standard theme park ticket with the park hopper option. The park hopper option allows you to visit multiple Walt Disney World Theme Parks in one day. I personally love the park hopper option. I love experiencing some of my favorite high thrill attractions during the day and then heading over to Epcot for snacks and drinks around The World Showcase in the evenings, but both ticket options are great.

Before buying tickets, however, I encourage you to take a look at the Walt Disney World theme park availability calendar to make sure the parks you'd like to visit still have availability. The calendar is broken down into three categories - Guests with a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel stay, Guests with theme park tickets only and Annual Passholders. You'll want to be sure you are viewing the calendar that is going to most pertain to you as they do have different availability. Once you have looked at the calendar and have made a decision, you can go ahead and purchase a Walt Disney World vacation package that includes your tickets or purchase just the tickets for your vacation. If you do this online through the Walt Disney World website, there should be an option to link them to your MyDisneyExperience account when you purchase them. Once they are linked to your MyDisneyExperience account, you can go ahead and make park pass reservations for your trip. You'll head over to the park pass reservation website to do this. The website will prompt you through selecting your party, picking a date on the calendar and then a theme park. If there is availability and everything is all set, you will be taken to a confirmation page and then have the option to make a park pass reservation for another day.

If you choose to purchase the park hopper option, you do still need to make park pass reservations for an initial theme park each day. Park hopping hours now start at 2:00 p.m. and last until each park closes. After your initial park pass reservation each day, you will not need to make any additional park pass reservations to park hop.

Dolores, I hope this helps! If you have any other questions about tickets, park pass reservations or anything else, please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm happy to help. Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
