Need suggestions on what to do day we arrive at Disney in early February. Staying at The Contemporary and already have plans at Magic Kingdom the following two days. Our flight arrives at noon. After checkin, etc any fun ideas? My girls are 5 & 9.

    Hi Miranda:

Barring extraordinary circumstances, I always advise everyone to take it easy and get settled in on the first day of a Disney vacation.  Especially since you have full Park days planned.  This is especially true if you are traveling with children.  Traveling wipes me out, and is even harder on younger members of my family.

I would consider checking out your Resort.  Maybe head to the Marina for a boat rental, or check out a movie under the stars, or an evening campfire.  I would consider reserving a trip on the Pirates and Pals firework voyage, which departs from The Contemporary.  You could even go for a swim if it's a mild February day (coming from Illinois, you may find the Florida weather to be warmer than the locals do) as Disney pools are heated all year long.

If you venture out, you could check out Downtown Disney.  Consider a princess make-over for your daughters at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and dine in one of the restaurants in this entertainment area.  Raglan Road (a modern twist on traditional Irish pub food) is my favorite.  You could also check out the Boardwalk promenade for some shopping, dining an entertainment.

    Enjoy your vacation.
