Need to start making daily plans for April 17-23, 2017. How will Star Wars half marathon impact the parks that weekend? Where will races start and end? Want to avoid race crowds. Thx.

    Hi Tom,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question!

I’ve visited Walt Disney World Resort during several race weekends and I haven’t found that race crowds have that much of an impact within the Theme Parks themselves. Most races start at Epcot, but they start so early (well before the Parks open) that I haven’t found much of an impact in that Park for any of the races.

My friend Lori answered a similar question for another Guest about the impact that the Star Wars Half Marathon - The Dark Side weekend would have on their trip in 2016. If the race follows the same path this year, the only day you might want to plan more carefully would be Sunday, April 16, 2017. Avoiding Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park that morning would help ensure your day goes smoothly.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!

    Have a Magical Day,
