We need a scooter rental but are not staying on Disney property. Is it possible to get a scooter delivered to the park and picked up from the park each day? Magic kingdom is always sold out by the time we get there. We usually can get one at Epcot.

    Hey, Howdy, Hey, Stacey!

Welcome to planDisney, we’re so happy you’ve found us. It looks like you will be visiting during the most magical time of the year, the holidays! It’s one of my favorite times to visit because of the decorations and the delicious seasonal offerings. One of my family’s favorite things to do is the Holiday Cookie Stroll at EPCOT during the Festival of the Holidays. We usually split the cookie four ways each time, so we all get a sampling of each one. We also unofficially rank our top cookies after we’re all done. It’s just a fun little extra we do as a family.

To help you cruise around during your visit, I recommend checking with the Disney Featured Provider, ScooterBug, to see if your resort is one they will deliver to. I know they offer drop-offs for Guests staying at Disney Resort Hotels, but it doesn’t hurt to check to see if your resort is also listed as a drop-off location. Unfortunately, your rental cannot be dropped off at any of the theme parks. So, renting through a third-party rental company, like ScooterBug, may ease your worries since ECV rentals are based on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you choose to rent an ECV at the theme parks or Disney Springs, it is transferable between locations. You’ll pay the rental fee once and use your rental receipt, with your deposit, to secure another ECV at your next location, if available. My dad was also worried about availability when we visited in March, so he looked into a few rental options. Instead, he opted to use his walking stick with lots of breaks, but he felt comfortable knowing that if we needed, we could always check for a rental at the front of the park. He was even willing to use a standard wheelchair rental if an ECV was not available. I just think he felt better knowing he had options. After that trip, though, we agreed we’d probably use a rental service like ScooterBug so that he could have the ECV with him the entire trip. It was the end of the day walk, back to the room, when he felt like he needed it most.

Stacey, I hope these options help you find a way to cruise through the parks. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to come back. We’re always here to help.

Remember, you’ve got a friend in me.
