Do we need to schedule the Kilimanjaro safaris? I cannot book online.

Hello, Josh! I'm so glad you've stopped by planDisney with your question.

The Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of my family's favorite attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. At this time, you don't need to do anything extra to be able to enjoy it for yourself while you are there. However, you will need to make a park pass reservation for the day you would like to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. If you haven't done so already, you'll need to purchase theme park tickets and then link them to your MyDisneyExperience account. Then you'll need to head over to the park pass reservation website and reserve the day that you would like to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. A park pass reservation is basically like a virtual place holder in line for the theme park in the morning, it will guarantee you entry on the day that you reserved.

What you may be thinking of is the FastPass+ program, however, since the reopening of Walt Disney World last summer that program has been suspended. The FastPass+ program allowed all Guests to preselect 3 attractions that they wanted to enjoy with little to no wait time. At this time, all Guests must wait in the standard queue to be able to enjoy all the attractions at Walt Disney World. But because park capacity is still being limited at this time, the wait times are not bad - even for the most popular attractions! I think I've waited an hour or less for anything I've wanted to experience, even during the busiest part of the day. To avoid wait times, however, I always recommend arriving as early as possible. I like to be one of the first people in the theme parks so I typically arrive 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to park opening. This just sets the day up to be great!

If you've worked up an appetite after your safari, don't miss out on the delicious roasted curry street corn that can be found right outside the entrance of the attraction. It's such a unique flavor and an absolutely delicious snack, I look forward to it every time I am there. Josh, I know you are going to have so much visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park during your visit. I hope you see lots of animals while you are out on safari! If you have any other questions before your trip, please come back and ask me. Have a wild time!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
