Hello and welcome to
planDisney, Lillian, we thank you for your question!
I am so happy to hear that you are planning a visit to
Walt Disney World Resort with your mother-in-law, the precious memories you will make together will be everlasting, especially with the thoughtfully created
Services for Guests with Disabilities which will make your mother-in-law's visit more convenient and enjoyable.
Lillian, as a primary caregiver for my special needs adult son who has very limited reciprocal language, in all our experiences registering for
Walt Disney World Resort's Disability Access Service (DAS), the perceptive Cast Members have picked up on this and instead offer cheerful greetings and keep their interaction with my son on a very minimal and extremely friendly level. They will take a quick and informal photo of your mother-in-law - it's very fast and friendly. While at this point, the Cast Members only converse in English for DAS registration as I was told when I called on your behalf, you may stumble on a Cast Member who may speak Cantonese by asking during your registration either online with the
DAS Advance virtual chat, or in-person
inside a theme park at the Guest Relations Lobby as there are many Cast Members from around the world who work at
Walt Disney World Resort. For further information, please call Disability Services at (407) 560-2547, or send an email to disability.services@disneyparks.com.
Tips:It's a good idea to download the
My Disney Experience Mobile App to manage your plans before and during your visit, and especially while using the DAS accommodation, since it will appear on your mobile app once registered.
As soon as you are registered, and inside a theme park, you will see the DAS attraction self-selection flow from which you or the registered DAS Guest may select a DAS Return Time. Please remember that while you or anyone on the DAS Guestlist may select a DAS Return Time, the registered DAS Guest (your mother-in-law), must be present when redeeming the DAS Return Time at an experience.
Lillian, consider accessing and purchasing the
Disney Genie+ service from the
My Disney Experience Mobile App to save time waiting in lines for attractions that offer the Lightning Lane entrance. Using the
Disney Genie+ service along with the
DAS will really streamline your day!
To Prepare for the DAS Registration:Please be sure to link anyone travelling with you to your Disney account by adding them to your
Family & Friends list, so that they (up to six Guests including the registered DAS Guest) can be included on the DAS Guestlist.
Kindly ensure you have made
Disney Park Pass - Theme Park Reservations using valid theme park admission for all in your travel party.
Lillian, it was my great pleasure assisting you today. Please feel free to stop by
planDisney for more first-hand tips and advice, we are always here for you!
