Do we need to reserve parking before purchasing a ticket to the Magic Kingdom?

Hiya Kenneth! Welcome to planDisney. We’re so glad you’re here!

How exciting to be planning a visit to Walt Disney World! If you arrive any time before March 31st, 2023, you’ll get to join in on the fun of The World's Most Magical Celebration in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. There is so much to enjoy, including the EAResistible celebratory bites found at every turn. If you get a chance to visit Magic Kingdom Park, visit Gaston's Tavern to check out the Goofy Dome Cake. I can't wait for my next trip to try that one!

Now, on to your question, Kenneth! You do not need to reserve vehicle parking ahead of your visit. Self-parking is available for all Guests for one fee, which is valid all day at all four theme parks. So, if you start your day at Magic Kingdom, you won’t have to pay for parking again if you decide to park hop over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios later in the afternoon. The parking pass price depends on the season and varies based on the day you visit, but the current rate for standard parking is between $20-$25 (though that fee is subject to change). So, you can just head over to the theme park when you’re ready to get your day started, and there will be Cast Members there to get you your parking pass and tell you where to go.

Have you heard about the fabulous new Car Locator option available through your My Disney Experience app? This brand-new complementary feature will allow you to save your parking information right in the app. So, no more wandering around for an hour trying to figure out where you're parked! How great is that? To use this feature, simply open your My Disney Experience app once you’ve parked, and click on the three stacked lines in the bottom right corner. From there, scroll down and select “Car Locator.” Then, if you have location permissions enabled on your phone, click on “Save Vehicle Location” to automatically add your parking information to the app. You can also add the information manually by selecting “enter your vehicle location.” Then, when you’re headed back to your car after a fabulous day in the parks, just pull up the app and find your information waiting for you there!

Kenneth, I hope my answer has been helpful to you! We here at planDisney love to help our fellow Guests make the most of their Walt Disney World Vacation, so please visit us again if you have any other questions!

    Have a magical day!
