Welcome to planDisney, Jillian!
If you want adventure in the great wide somewhere (and if you want it more than you can tell), then
Walt Disney World is the place for you. Adventure is out there! And with
The World's Most Magical Celebration currently happening, there's so much EARidescent excitement to experience and enjoy. All that's left to do is figure out how to get from the airport to Walt Disney World!
Jillian, I'm sure you're aware of the supply chain shortages around the country. I've personally found it almost impossible to get a hold of pixie dust. Otherwise, I'd suggest sprinkling some pixie dust, thinking of a happy thought, and flying to Walt Disney World from the airport. But alas! You'll have to try a more "normal" method of transportation. Although Disney doesn't offer rides to and from the airport anymore (Disney's Magical Express service is now retired), there are a number of different options for you to consider:
Shuttle ServicesThere are two different, but great shuttle services to choose from. The first option is Mears Connect (this company used to run Disney's Magical Express). The second shuttle service option is Sunshine Flyer. This service has a very cool 1920s passenger cars and train locomotives theme. It's a lot of fun! Check out both websites, compare prices, and decide which one suits you most.
RideshareMany people choose to get to Walt Disney World Resort from the airport using a rideshare service, like Uber or Lyft. All you need to do is download their respective apps and make a booking at a time that works best for you. The advantage of using a rideshare over a shuttle service is that you can leave when you're ready and you don't have to wait for other Guests. You're also taken straight to your Resort, instead of having to stop at multiple Resorts along the way. The disadvantage of using a rideshare service is that you're more limited when it comes to the number of people you can fit into one vehicle. So it depends on the size of your party.
TaxisYou can also book a cab to take up to nine people. This will typically cost you more than a rideshare service though.
Rental Car
There are a number of rental car companies at Orlando International Airport. Many people choose this option so that they have more flexibility. However, just note that there is an overnight fee to park at each Disney Resorts Collection hotel. So the cost can certainly add up if you rent a car.
As you can see, you have a few options, Jillian. Personally, I prefer taking an Uber or a Lyft because I just want to get to my Resort as quickly as possible. However, I also have two young children who require car seats and so the best option for me in this season of life is to take a shuttle service.
