Do i need a reservation to do shopping at Downtown disney in California

    Welcome to planDisney, Kelly!

The Downtown Disney District is the first area available to Guests as the phased reopening of the Disneyland Resort progresses. Guests who wish to enjoy the unique dining and shopping experiences of the Downtown Disney District do not require a general reservation to access the area at this time. Simply arrive at the Disneyland Resort and enjoy your visit! For a limited time, complimentary parking is available at the Simba parking lot located on Disneyland Drive. The parking lot entrance is immediately to the south of Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. Be sure to arrive early, especially on popular days. To facilitate appropriate social distancing at Downtown Disney District, admission to the Simba lot may be temporarily suspended to allow for current Guests to complete their visit before permitting more Guests to take their place. Guests with confirmed dining reservations at a Downtown Disney District restaurant will still be granted priority access to the Simba parking lot to enjoy their dining experience.

You won't regret deciding to visit the Downtown Disney District. My wife and I recently drove from Utah to Southern California for a lovely weekend getaway. We dined at several of our favorite Downtown Disney District restaurants and shopped to our hearts' content. If you happen to be current Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders like us, you'll be happy to know that Passholder discounts are still offered at participating Downtown Disney District locations!

At first, we were hesitant to travel after months of closures in the Beehive State and beyond. The safety protocols at the Downtown Disney District as well as at the Good Neighbor Hotel where we stayed put our minds at ease. It was just the right pick-me-up we needed during these "unprecedented times."

Tony's Tip: I recommend arriving as early as possible to enjoy your shopping excursion at the Downtown Disney District. To promote social distancing, stores are limiting the number of people allowed inside at any given time. Some of the most popular shopping destinations, including World of Disney, Marceline's Confectionary, and Disney Home, may be offering a virtual queue at peak times. Simply follow the signs or ask a Cast Member where you should go to be added to the queue. At the sign-up location, give the Cast Member your name and mobile phone number to be added to the virtual queue. While you wait in the virtual queue, you may feel free to enjoy other dining and shopping experiences available. After a while, you will receive a text message indicating when you may head toward the store entrance.

Thanks for visiting us here at planDisney, Kelly. If you have any more questions as you prepare for your visit to The Happiest Place on Earth, we hope you'll stop by again soon.
