Do you need a reservation for a second park if you have park hopper tickets? Could you ever be not allowed to park hop because the 2nd park you wanted to go to is full?

Hiya Jennifer - welcome back to planDisney!

It's been a while and we're so happy that you stopped by to ask out team of panelists another question as you get ready for your upcoming vacation! We're always here to help Guests just like you plan your own magical Walt Disney World Resort vacations.

First of all, let me just tell you that you're visiting at an extra magical time. The Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration is in full swing, with exciting new attractions and experiences, entertainment, food, and so much more - get ready to make some magical memories!

Currently, Park Pass Reservations are only required and available for the first Theme Park you will visit each day. So, if your Theme Park Ticket includes the Park Hopper Option, you will first experience the park you have a Park Pass Reservation for, and then can hop to any other available Theme Park starting at 2 p.m. each day.

While it is true that Park Hopping availability is dependent on each park's capacity, it has been rare for a park to be unavailable for hopping later in the day. When this does occur, Guests will receive a notification on their My Disney Experience Mobile App with details. The important thing to know is that the availability of Park Hopping is not connected to the availability of Park Pass Reservations. So, for example, imagine I was visiting next Friday and made a Park Pass Reservation for Disney's Hollywood Studios, and I also noticed that Park Pass Reservations were not available for Disney's Animal Kingdom that day. That just means that Animal Kingdom is not available for me to start my day, but it will most likely be available for me to hop to after 2 p.m. after I spend the morning at Hollywood Studios.

Keep in mind that while parks have rarely reached capacity to a level that Park Hopping is no longer available, it can happen. If you want to be sure you'll be able to visit a specific park on a specific day, it's always the best idea to make your Park Pass Reservation for that park.

I hope this information is helpful - please let us know if we can answer any additional questions as you continue planning for your upcoming vacation!
