    Hi! Do I need to make a reservation with Genie+ to use lightning lane or can my family just get in the lightning lane line since we all have Genie+? Thanks!

    Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your really great question!

    Once you purchase Disney Genie+ Service, at 7:00 a.m. on the day(s) you have the Service, you’ll be able to select your first Lightning Lane attraction return window. Once you use your first Lightning Lane or your attraction window passes, you’ll be able to select your next Lightning Lane and continue the cycle throughout the day (subject to availability). 

    There are also Individual Lightning Lanes, which are select attractions separate from the Disney Genie+ Service. These are highly demanded attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom Park. The Individual Lightning Lanes can be purchased in addition to Disney Genie+. However, the purchase window is different for Individual Lightning Lanes. Disney Resort Collection and other select hotel guests can begin purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes at 7:00 a.m. on the day of their visit to the Theme Parks. If guests aren’t staying at a Walt Disney World Resort property, then they can make their first Individual Lightning Lane purchase when the Theme Park opens. Also remember, you do not need Disney Genie+ to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, they are completely separate. Keep in mind only two of these Individual Lightning Lanes can be purchased each day.

    When you’ve made your Disney Genie+ and/or Individual Lightning Lane selections, you’ll be able to see the reservations under the “My Genie Day” portion of the My Disney Experience mobile app. When your reservation window opens, you’ll head to the Lightning Lane, tap your MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile, or physical ticket, then you’re off to enjoy the attraction!

    This is a new experience for everyone so if you have any questions while you’re in the Theme Parks feel free to use the “Chat With Us” feature in the My Disney Experience mobile app to speak with a Cast Member. You can also speak to a Guest Experience Cast Member while in the Theme Parks. They are extremely knowledgeable and can answer any Disney Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane questions. Just look for the blue umbrellas!
