Greetings, Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for bringing your question to us about whether your ticket needs a
theme park reservation. Your trip is coming up pretty soon, so let's get into it.
Years ago, Magic Your Way was a ticket option offered at Walt Disney World that would allow Guests to choose certain add-ons that were important to them, like the
Park Hopper option or no expiration date, without having to pay for features that weren't. If you have one of these former tickets with the no expiration date option, lucky you! You have a ticket at yesteryear's price that can still be used today. That being said, there's a process involved to use it, and that begins with calling Guest Services at the number listed
here.
To answer your question specifically, I can share with you that only date-based tickets don't require a theme park reservation. All other ticket types still do. If, after speaking with Guest Services, they convert your ticket to date-based, no theme park reservation will be required as the date of your visit will already be captured within your ticket. If your ticket is left as non date-based, a theme park reservation will be required.
Currently, most
tickets that are being sold on the Walt Disney World website are date-based, so if you're looking to purchase a new 1-day ticket, it will be date-based and therefore, no theme park reservation will be needed.
I'm not sure how long you're planning on staying, but did you know that
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens on May 3? I don't know about you, but it's been too long since I last boarded The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness, and I'm giddy with excitement knowing I'll get to experience it on my next trip. Also,
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin just reopened with some new enhancements as well. I hope you'll get to experience one or both of these during your visit.
Jennifer, I hope this helps and that you'll get your ticket sorted soon. If you have any other planning questions, please stop by and visit us again.
Let your dreams guide you!
Melanie
