Hiya Melinda,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm a proud new momma of my very first Mouseketeer, so I've spent a lot of time researching the best theme park stroller and tips and tricks for visiting Walt Disney World Resort with a little one.
If you did a Google search for "Best Stroller for Disney," you will see a list of results that overwhelms even the savviest of moms. I remember being unsure where to start and which would work best for me. My biggest takeaway was that the "best stroller for Disney" depends on your family's needs. Since I don't know much about your Ohana and wouldn't want to recommend something that wouldn't work, I will share with you some of the things I considered when making my selection for my baby. Before I share my list, if you want to skip ahead to just seeing some Disney-approved strollers, I highly recommend checking out Scooterbug. They are a
Disney Authorized Provider for strollers, ECV scooters, and wheelchairs. Their strollers can give you a solid starting point on your journey to selecting the right one. Now on to my list of criteria to consider:
-The
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules: According to the official property rules, strollers cannot exceed the dimensions of 31" in width by 52" in length. In my experience, most standard strollers fit into this criteria, but I always recommend triple checking. Also, stroller wagons are not permitted in the Theme Parks.
-Compact: If you plan to use any of Walt Disney World Resort's complimentary transportation, especially the
buses, you must collapse or fold your stroller. Mine happens to collapse into the size of a bag that can fit in an overhead bin of an airplane, and it is perfect for that. When selecting my stroller, I wanted to make sure that I could fold the stroller with one hand quickly and unfold it just as easily.
-Weight: Similar to the point I just mentioned, you may pick up the stroller to get on the bus or maneuver through crowds. It was crucial to me that any stroller I chose was lightweight for ease.
-Grows With My Baby: We visit Walt Disney World Resort frequently and wanted to ensure that if we purchased a stroller for our trips, it could grow and adapt as our daughter did. It had to be able to fully recline for a newborn and be one that could accommodate a toddler. It was a tall order but so important to us.
-Storage: The final thing that was important to me was having plenty of storage. I love collecting souvenirs and snacks during my visits to the Theme Parks. I searched for a stroller with enough space to stow my souvenirs, diaper bag and still have room for me to put rain gear.
-Maneuverability: When getting around the Theme Parks, it is much easier when your stroller has four wheels. We tried many strollers before we settled on ours, and we found it easier to weave in and out of groups when our stroller had four wheels. Also, if your significant other is like mine, they need a stroller with adjustable height. I'm pixie small, so a stroller that is perfect for me usually leads to him hunching down. Our ideal stroller could be adjusted so that both of us were comfortable during a long day at Walt Disney World.
I know this wasn't necessarily the direct recommendation you hoped for, Melinda, but I hope it was helpful. Selecting a stroller for your trip is an important step, and whatever you choose will be perfect for you and your family's needs. Please come back and see
me if you need anything else.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
