Aloha Ann,
You will feel like you have transported to paradise during your stay at
Disney's Polynesian Village. I love entering the hotel and immediately hearing the traditional ukulele music, seeing the beautifully themed lobby, and feeling as if I have just arrived to a tropical destination.
Reserving arrival day for some relaxation before hitting the theme parks the next day rested from your day of travel is a smart plan. Once you arrive at Disney's Polynesian Village, you can leave your belongings with the bell stand, if your room is not ready. There are public restrooms near the lobby and
pool area and towels are available for your convenience. The Lava Pool is lots of fun with a water slide and zero entry area. The
Barefoot Pool Bar offers specialty cocktails, including my favorite, the Lava Flow. There are also non-alcoholic options for the little ones. After your swim, you could head over at
Pineapple Lanai in the Great Ceremonial House, and enjoy one of the many ice cream treats or flavored shaved ice.
Other activities at the resort include catch and release fishing and boat rentals. There is also a sand volleyball court between the Hawaii and Tahiti buildings. Later in the evening, they have the nightly Movies Under the Stars (weather permitting) and a campfire marshmallow roast. For more information about these events, check with the front desk or guest services upon arrival for the exact time and location.
I hope this gives you some exciting ideas for your resort day.
