Hi there, Kate!
The Walt Disney Travel Company does offer an insurance package, which must be added on before your party embarks on vacation. There is both a Land option and a Land and Air option, implying that you can take out a policy on just the accommodation portion of your trip.
Coverage is effective once a deposit has been applied and ends on the earlier of:
• the scheduled trip completion date
• the actual trip completion date
• the insured's arrival at the return destination on a round trip
• cancellation of the trip covered by the policy
• up to 180 consecutive days
Guests are covered from the time they leave their house to begin their vacation, to the moment they return to their house at the conclusion of their vacation.
Insurance must always be purchased by all adults age 18 and over in the room. When insurance for the adults is added, children (aged 17 and under) are automatically covered at no additional charge.
Even if the Guest has insurance, WDTC will still impose and collect change and cancellation penalties. The Guest must file a claim with the insurance company to reimburse the penalties.
Judgment on whether the cancellation or change reason is valid for reimbursement lies with the insurance company. WDTC cannot guarantee that any penalties or losses will be reimbursed.
If the reservation dates are modified, the insurance must be repurchased or the new travel dates will not be covered.
More information is available through the official
Disney Web site or by calling (407) 828-8101.
Have a wonderful time!
See you later, celebrator!
