do I need to get a prepaid parking at Heron garage?

    Ahoy there, Marilou!

Welcome aboard planDisney! I love that you’re thinking ahead and getting all the details squared away before you even leave the house. That’s the kind of planning that makes embarkation day feel smooth and stress-free right from the start.

When it comes to parking at Port Everglades, including the Heron Garage, there is currently no option to reserve or prepay for parking. It’s all handled when you arrive at the port, so there’s nothing you need to book ahead of time. Think of it as a first-come, first-served setup, nice and simple so you can just roll in and start your vacation.

Right now, parking is $20 per day plus tax, and that typically includes both your day of arrival and your day of departure. When you get to the garage, you’ll drop off your luggage and pull a ticket before heading up to park. I always recommend putting that ticket somewhere safe like your wallet or purse, because you’ll need it when you return. After your cruise, the easiest way to handle payment is at one of the kiosks on the main level before heading back up to your vehicle. That ticket is your key to getting out.

My crew and I have made that drive to Port Everglades quite a few times, and my biggest piece of advice is to plan for traffic. Once you get around the West Palm Beach area, things can slow down pretty quickly, and that’s not exactly the kind of excitement you want right before boarding your ship. We’ve found that arriving the night before really helps take that stress off the table and lets the vacation start a little earlier. Since you’re traveling over a holiday weekend, I would definitely expect a bit more traffic than usual.

One extra tip I like to share is to give yourself a little buffer time once you arrive at the garage. Between unloading luggage, getting everyone organized, and making your way to the terminal, it can take a few extra minutes. A little patience here goes a long way and keeps everything feeling relaxed.

I hope this helps you feel confident about your parking plans so you can focus on the fun part of your trip. With no reservations needed, it’s one less thing to worry about as you count down to sailing day.
