Need 125 points for a vacation. How do I go about this

Hi Christy, welcome home and welcome back to planDisney! It sounds like you’re planning a fantastic Disney Vacation Club vacation if you’re in need of extra Vacation Points. Now, unless Scrooge McDuck is your uncle and can dive into his vault to get you the cash for some additional Vacation Points, here’s some potential ways to get those points and book that vacation!

Christy, are you aware that you can bank your current Use Year’s allotment of Vacation Points towards the next Use Year? You can also borrow next year’s allotment of points to use in your current Use Year. What’s even better, you can do both at the same time for a total of three times your allotment of Vacation Points within one Use Year! My family has done something similar for a memorable multi-generational trip where we brought both sets of grandparents to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. This may be something to consider to get you the Vacation Points you need.

You can also have Vacation Points transferred from another Member to you. If you have a friend or family member who may not be using their Vacation Points, they’ll be able to transfer those Vacation Points to you through a call with Member Services. Just remember that transferred Vacation Points retain their original properties (home resort priority booking window, Use Year, and banking deadlines). So if your Home Resort is Disney’s Riviera Resort with a June Use Year and your friend has a Home Resort of Disney’s Boardwalk Villas with a September Use Year, you won’t be able to combine them towards a stay at either of those Resorts until 7 months from your desired check-in date.

Finally, Christy, as Members we have the ability to purchase One-time-use Vacation Points. You have the option to purchase 24 one-time-use points per Use Year. So while that may not be enough, this in addition to the two other options discussed earlier might help you meet your goal. While we’re on the topic of one-time-use points, I’d also like to let you know that the optional Membership Magic Beyond option offers one-time-use points at a discounted rate. So I suggest looking into this program if you plan on purchasing one-time-use points.

If all of that fails, then perhaps it may be time to consider an add-on contract! Depending on the Home Resort, current Members can purchase add-on contracts for as little as 25 Vacation Points. You can contact a DVC Cast Member to inquire about any incentives or promotions are available.

Christy, I hope this information was helpful. If you have any more questions related to Disney Vacation Club or vacation planning at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or the Beach Resorts, please do not hesitate to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!

    Your pal,
