    Bill from NY Asked

Do I need to Use 358 points by April 29th? or loose them or Can I Bank them?? I am thinking of going to WDW April 16th

    Hi Bill!

Welcome Home! At planDisney, we are Guests just like you, here to offer tips, tricks, and our best advice for making the most of your Disney vacation. As a Disney Vacation Club Member for more than a decade, I love chatting with my fellow Members! Since I am a Guest and DVC Member, but not a Cast Member, I can't actually look at your specific contract details, I only have the information you provide in your question. But never fear Bill, let’s talk about what I think might be happening, and general options.

You mentioned using your Vacation Points by the date April 29. I am unclear why you asked about this specific date, as I’m not sure why Vacation Points would expire on that day. So, your Vacation Points probably expire earlier or maybe later than this.

Do you have an April Use Year? This is what I am thinking. If the Use Year of your contract is April, then your 2021 Vacation Points can be used for a stay between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022. Your 2021 Vacation Points can also be banked into 2022, as long as you bank them on or before November 30, 2021. If instead, you have a June Use Year, you must stay between June 1, 2021, and May 30, 2022, and your banking window would close January 31, 2022. There are no contracts with a May Use Year.

Bill, if you still have Vacation Points leftover from an April 2020 Use Year that you banked into your 2021 Use Year, those Vacation Points cannot be banked a second time. They must be either used to stay no later than March 31, 2021, or they can be deposited into the RCI system to book a stay at one of the RCI locations around the world. Putting them into RCI usually extends their expiration, so this may be a good idea for some Members.

So, if you’d like to vacation in April of 2022, it depends on if you have an April Use Year, and if the Vacation Points you wish to use are from 2020 or 2021. You would not be able to use April 2020 Vacation Points for an April 2022 stay. You’d need to use them, put them into RCI, or lose them. Vacation Points from your April 2021 Use Year can be used to book April 2022, but they would first need to be banked to your 2022 Use Year, and then used to book the room.

I hope this helps to answer your question. Without contract specifics like Use Year and how many points are current or banked, I'm sorry I can’t give more specific advice. If you call Member Services, they can look at your account details to give you a more exact answer, and could help you bank any Vacation Points, deposit any into RCI if you choose to, or book a Disney Vacation Club stay. Sending you pixie dust for that perfect reservation, Bill!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
