When do I need to pay the balance on my cruise?

Ahoy, Laura, and welcome to planDisney! The countdown to your high seas adventure is on – can you already taste the Mickey churro waffles and picture the beautiful ocean horizon? Let's talk about the flexibility you have when it comes to paying for this magical vacation.

It sounds like you already took care of the down payment for your cruise and are planning how best to make payments until your balance is paid. You're off to a great start! For most sailings of five nights or fewer, the total must be paid in full 90 days before embarkation day. For longer sailings, it's generally due 120 days before.

Please keep in mind that certain stateroom types, special offers, and categories with restrictions may have different timelines or require full payment at the time of booking. I recommend checking the exact due date for your specific cruise on the Disney Cruise Line website or on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Just sign in to either one and click your reservation to get all the pertinent details.

I love that the booking tool on the website has a planning calculator. While it doesn't represent a formal payment plan, you could use it when planning a future trip to see how much of a deposit would be due and test out different payment frequencies. It also shows when the balance would be due for that specific departure date. Just click the link under the stateroom prices from the initial search.

Some other things to be mindful of:

    • Refunds are generally available up to 120 days before the sail date, although restrictions may apply for some stateroom categories or special offers.
    • Your cruise must be paid for in full before you can book activities. The window to do that depends on your Castaway Club membership level, which is determined by how many sailings you've taken with Disney Cruise Line. If this is your first cruise, that window will open 75 days prior to the sail date. If your Castaway Club membership allows you to book earlier, you'll just want to make sure your balance is paid off before then.
Laura, you'll be enjoying Broadway-style shows, great food, themed lounges, deck parties, and more before you know it. One of my favorite things to do when I have a cruise coming up is to see the Character countdown in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It brings a smile to my face every time.

If you think of any other questions between now and embarkation day, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!
