Do you need passports for ensenada cruise???

Ahoy, Deborah, and welcome to planDisney! The Baja Cruise from San Diego is a fantastic choice – it holds a special place in my heart as the very first cruise my kids ever experienced. As such, I did lots of extra research at the time to make sure we had all the proper documentation. I’d be happy to help you do the same so you can enjoy smooth sailing from start to finish.

When it comes to travel documentation, requirements can vary based on your cruise itinerary and citizenship, so it’s always important to review the guidelines carefully. You'll find important travel guidelines and regulations relevant to your individual itinerary under "My Reservations" on the Disney Cruise Line website.

For U.S. citizens sailing on round-trip cruises along the Pacific Coast, current requirements allow for a few different document options. Guests may travel with an original, valid U.S. passport/ passport card, or a valid Trusted Traveler Card. Alternatively, these cruises also permit travel with an original, state-issued birth certificate paired with a physical, government-issued photo ID.

I'd say a valid passport is the best choice, since you'd have more flexibility should you need to seek alternative travel for any reason. That said, my husband, whose passport had expired at the time, was able to sail to Ensenada without issue using his birth certificate and driver's license. Children 15 years of age and younger do not need to present a government-issued photo ID.

Keep in mind that government regulations can change at any time, so it’s a good idea to confirm current documentation requirements as your sail date approaches.

Now, let's talk about the cruise to Ensenada – it's very enjoyable. The San Diego Port Terminal is easily accessible, and there are plenty of things to do in the immediate area if you have extra time before or after your cruise. There are several port adventures you can choose from in Ensenada, such as zip-lining, horseback riding, and wine tasting. I'll never forget seeing sea lions in the bay from the ship's portholes when we were docked at the port. Lastly, you'll sail aboard either the Disney Wonder or the Disney Magic, which are both charming ships. Each offers themed dining, Broadway-style shows, and a more intimate atmosphere, as they're smaller than some of the other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

Deborah, I hope you have a wonderful time on your sun-kissed sailing between San Diego and Ensenada. If you think of any other questions, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!

    Wishing you magic,
