Do we need a Passport if we are travelling on the 3 night cruise from aucklnd and return if we are New Zealand Residents

Why ahoy there Shannon and welcome to planDisney!

I've personally spent years sailing around the coasts of New Zealand and it's always been so wonderful to connect with Kiwis looking embark on Disney Cruise Line voyages, even if they don't stray too far from the Land of the Long White Cloud. In fact some of our shorter sailings were a great way for first-timers to dip their toes into the world of cruising and earn their sea legs; for these quick "closed-loop" cruises that don't necessarily visit any other countries, some seafarers benefit from having different options for valid travel documentation as they set sail:

Taking a look at the Disney Magic at Sea itineraries, there are a few that depart from the City of Sails on the North Island and return with a two Days at Sea in between like this 3-Night Disney Magic at Sea Cruise from Auckland. According to Disney Cruise Line's current Passports, Visas & Citizenship Documentation requirements, citizens of New Zealand over the age of 18 must provide one of the following valid pieces of documentation:

    • Original valid passport OR
    •  Government-issued photo ID
It's always a good idea to confirm again leading up to your sailing in the event that your particular piece of identification is valid and acceptable; for this reason experienced seafarers tend to always recommend having their Passport handy as a backup option just in case. While it is highly unlikely on your voyage, I've personally experienced instances over the years where our ship has had to make an emergency stop in an unscheduled destination country and folks were glad to have had their passports to be able to debark!

In preparation for your holiday at sea, have a look at our planDisney Pocket Guide to the Disney Wonder so that you're well equipped before you spend your time exploring everything that she has to offer on board. I hope that this was helpful Shannon, please feel free to come back again for more advice, tips or tricks ahead of any of your upcoming adventures to Disney Destinations around the world!
