Hi Amanda,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question!
The answer to your question depends on the specific ports that you’ll be visiting on your
Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line. As a general rule, while
Disney strongly encourages Guests to have a passport while cruising, the
Travel Documentation requirements can vary depending on the type of sailing.
If you’ll be on a Round Trip Cruise (that is, leaving from and returning to the same United States Port), US Citizens can travel using their original valid US Passport or Passport Card OR an original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate and a physical Government-issued photo ID (digital IDs cannot be substituted.) Some specific one-way Caribbean Cruises (usually either departing from or ending in
San Juan) will also allow US citizens to use a birth certificate and photo ID to sail.
If you’re getting conflicting answers for your specific sailing and the official links I’ve provided don’t help resolve your issue, I highly recommend that you
email or
call Disney Cruise Line for more information. They’ll be able to provide you with specific guidance for your trip.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
