Hello, Nick!
Thank you for reaching out to planDisney. I am glad you sent your question to us! It sounds like you are planning a voyage aboard the
Disney Cruise Line soon. How fun!
Disney Castaway Cay is my favorite Port of Call. The beaches are beautiful, and there are so many fun things to do. During my last cruise, my planDisney pals and I zipped down the Pelican Plunge water slides and looked for hidden treasures in the Snorkeling Lagoon. I cannot wait to go back!
Passport requirements can be found on the
Disney Cruise Line Travel Documentation page. Disney Cruise Line recommends that Guests use passports on their sailings, but passports are not currently required for Guests on roundtrip voyages visiting The Bahamas or the Caribbean (which includes Disney Castaway Cay). This is subject to change at any time. I recommend reviewing both the Travel Documentation page and the U.S. State Department's website to see what type of identification is needed for your cruise. Currently, Guests can provide an original, state-issued birth certificate and a physical government-issued photo ID instead of a passport on select sailings. Other permissible IDs can be found on the Travel Documentation page under "The Bahamas, Caribbean, Pacific Coast, Bermuda or Canada – Round Trip Cruises".
Although passports might not be needed, I highly suggest getting one. They make it much easier to fly out of a different country in the event of an emergency. It also reduces the paperwork you need to bring (and lowers the chances of losing one of the required documents...which is helpful when packing your entire family for a cruise!).
Did you know that kids between 3 to 10 years old (who are potty trained) can be dropped off at Scuttle's Cove on Disney Castaway Cay? This immersive play area includes a splash area and fun activities to keep your kids happy for hours!
Nick, have a fantastic voyage aboard the Disney Cruise Line! We hope to see you real soon!
Happy sailing!
Jen
