Ahoy there, friend!
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question about a 2024 Disney Cruise Line voyage.
The answer to your question about
travel documentation depends on several factors including the type of sailing and whether or not you’re a US Citizen, a US Legal Permanent Resident or a citizen of another country.
Because I believe that you’re writing to us from the United States, I’ll presume that you’re a US Citizen. If you’re looking at a “round trip” cruise (that is, one that leaves and returns from the same port), then you can travel either with an original valid US Passport OR an original or copy of your state-issued birth certificate AND a physical Government-issued photo ID.
That said, if your cruise is heading to Mexico, I highly recommend sailing with a valid passport, anyway. Take it from someone who has to cross a border for almost every vacation I take: it’s always safer to travel with proper travel documentation, one that will allow you to get home quickly from anywhere in case something happens to you or to a member of your travelling party. This is why
Disney Cruise Line recommends that all travellers carry a valid passport for all itineraries, even if one isn’t required.
I hope my answer helps you plan for smooth sailing in 2024. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
