Do you need to have park tickets in addition to separate tickets to attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, or if we want to attend the party, we would just purchase the special tickets for the date we want to attend?

    Hi Lori,

Welcome to planDisney. Thank you for stopping by with your question. While I haven’t personally experienced Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (or Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party) yet, my planDisney Class of 2024 friends recently attended and shared stories that gave me serious FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)! They raved about the festive atmosphere, low wait times for attractions, special character meet-and-greets, the holiday-themed parade, and the complimentary cookies and hot cocoa available throughout the park. These events truly offer a unique way to celebrate the holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort.

I’m happy to report that you do not need a regular Theme Park Ticket in addition to your event ticket to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The special event ticket grants you access to Magic Kingdom Park starting at 4:00 PM, even though the party itself doesn’t officially begin until later in the evening. The only scenario where you would need both a Theme Park Ticket and an event ticket would be if you wanted to visit Magic Kingdom (or another park) earlier in the day before 4:00 PM. In short, if your only goal is to attend the party, you’ll only need to purchase the event ticket. However, a regular Theme Park Ticket would be required if you plan to visit the parks earlier that day.

As you plan your trip, I recommend checking the park hours and event calendar to stay up-to-date on any special events happening during your visit. For example, on days when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is held, Guests without event tickets will need to exit Magic Kingdom by 6:00 PM. During my recent trip, I strategically planned a Magic Kingdom day on a party evening. Since many Guests choose other parks on those days, we enjoyed lower crowds and shorter wait times for attractions in the morning and early afternoon. It’s definitely something to consider for your own itinerary!

I hope this information helps you plan a memorable visit! If you have more questions as you prepare for your trip, please don’t hesitate to send another my way—I’d love to help.

    Cheers,
    Brent
