We need an overview of how to best plan our time and what is a must do/must see in WDW. We are surprising out 6 & 7 year old with this trip Christmas morning so we can't include them in the planning. We are first timers and are hoping for a magical tri

Hi Amelie!  Planning at Walt Disney World trip might seem overwhelming but it is a lot of fun once you begin.  I will get you started and then as you progress please feel free to write us back with more questions.

The first thing you will need to do is pick the dates for your trip.  Review the variety of resorts on the Disney website, www.disneyworld.com , and select one that meets your needs and budget.  Call for reservations and get that locked in.  You can get a free disney Vacation Planning DVD by going to the website and looking under the Plan topic at the top and then, Planning 1st Trip to WDW.

Calendars are published only four months out so to get the exact park hours and entertainment schedule you will have to wait.  However, you can use the 2009 calendars as a guide and start planning your days.  Review the dining choices described on the website and start making a list of those that interest you. With young children I highly suggest selecting at least one character meal during your stay.  Also read about the different dining plans available for you and decide if that is something that would be beneficial to your family.

While you wait for the 2010 calendars you can also review the different rides and attractions at all four Disney parks. There are wonderful things to see and do for your children in all of the Disney theme parks.  You can read the descriptions on the website and also see the Disney recommendations for age appropriateness.

Dining and recreation reservations can be made 90 days out from your arrival.  Mark that date on your calendar as you will want to make those reservations on that day.

As you have questions while reviewing the information please let the panel help with the answers.
