    Do I need magic bands?

    Hi Keiona! Welcome to planDisney!

Can you believe that your trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is almost here?! Before you know it, you'll be welcomed into the theme parks with the Cast Members' smiling faces. There is nothing like it!

While MagicBands are super convenient and they come in some very cute designs that make me want them all, they are not required to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. Instead of MagicBands, you can use your theme park ticket card to enter the theme parks. When you have a photo taken by a PhotoPass photographer, they can either scan your theme park ticket or give you a PhotoPass card to capture all your pictures. The only exception to this is for attraction photos that auto-magically upload to MagicBands. There are only a few spots that do this, however, if you plan to purchase all of your attraction photos via Memory Maker then you would want at least one person in your party to have a MagicBand for that purpose. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can either use the My Disney Experience mobile app or a Key to the World card to open your hotel room door.

If you decide upon arrival that you do want a MagicBand, they are available at various merchandise locations throughout the theme parks. Some of the locations have extra designs that are not found in other stores, so keep a lookout for one that catches your eye!

I hope this helps, Keiona! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
