Do I need a magic band for my 4 year old? If so, where can I find magic bands for children on the website?

Hiya, Haley! I am so glad you came to planDisney with this question because I have been asking myself the same. I just texted my brother to see if I can take my nephew to Magic Kingdom Park when I am in town in a few months, and I was casually shopping the Disney Store for MagicBand or MagicBand+ designs he might like.

When we went together last year, he was two years old and did not need a MagicBand at all. But I do not think I have ever seen anyone more excited to use one. I got Genie+ to spend less time in lines, and I had to take my MagicBand off and put it back on so many times for him. He was not letting me have all the fun making Mickey Mouse light up. I am not a fan of spending money I don't need to, but I know he will want one again, and that simple band is part of being in the magic of Disney.

For your trip and child, I would consider if you plan on using Genie+ and if everyone else is going to have a MagicBand. If your plans include Genie+, I think a MagicBand is easier to manage than a Key to the World card as you are using it frequently throughout the day. And if everyone in your family has a MagicBand, your four-year-old may just want to be like everyone else. Kids (of all ages) love to tap the Mickey Mouse and see the lights turn green to say, "It's time to go!"

As for sizes: all MagicBands are made to fit adults and children. They are designed with an outer edge you can peel off to fit smaller wrists. It takes a little bit of strength to pull the outer edge off (just enough that it wouldn't happen by accident), but you can easily see where it is meant to separate to make the band shorter.

If your trip includes a stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can purchase a MagicBand or MagicBand+ for each member of your room, with a special pre-arrival price. You can find these on the website by going to "My Disney Experience" and selecting "My MagicBands and Cards" or on the My Disney Experience App by going to "Future Plans," selecting your resort reservation, and then selecting "Choose MagicBands." Purchases made 11 or more days before your arrival date will be shipped to your home address. If you wait until 6-10 days before your trip, your MagicBands will be delivered to your Walt Disney World Resort. If you are not staying at Disney, you can shop for MagicBands at the Disney Store or in person once you are at Walt Disney World.

I have now upgraded to MagicBand+ as I love the buzzing and lights on my wrist during the fireworks, and I am on a quest to collect all the statues from the 50th-anniversary celebration in the Play Disney Parks app. It's the next level of Disney immersion in the magic.

Please come back to planDisney with any other questions as you plan your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

I hope your vacation is filled with laughter, joy, and special memories for a lifetime for you and your family!
