    Do I need a Magic Band at WDW or can I do the park admission, room key, and purchases all through the app?

    Ahoy there...er...Hello Matthew, and welcome to planDisney! If you'll excuse the nautical introduction - I'm usually sailing the high seas as a Disney Cruise Line specialist - but when it comes to questions about tech or transportation, I sometimes pull into port to help Guests with questions about Walt Disney World Resort! I picked up your signal, and here I am! 

    Ah the MagicBand - now there's a name I haven't heard in ::checks notes:: about 24 hours! While they're an inspired piece of tech - and will soon be joined by MagicBand+ in 2022 - I know the convenience of having your entire vacation in the PALM of your hand as opposed to around your wrist is sometimes the best option. If that's the case for you, I'm happy to report that yes, you can use the My Disney Experience App combined with Disney MagicMobile Service to harness the  phenomenal cosmic power of a MagicBand on your compatible mobile device. 

    Currently you can use MagicMobile to do the following as long as you link your tickets and any entitlements to your account: 

    So let's see...yep that looks like it checks all the boxes - oh, the room key bit is part of My Disney Experience, so be sure to look for the prompts there for how to use your device as a room key. While you're there, I'd be sure to check that you've completed your Online Check-In, and learn about Direct-to-Room Service to simplify your arrival!

    Nothing like breezing past the Front Desk and heading straight to your room (if it's ready) or accessing the pool if you'll be arriving ready to take a dip! Just be sure to still give a friendly wave and "hello" to the Cast Members, and PLEASE remember to leave your phone on dry land - MagicMobile wouldn't work very well with a waterlogged phone...believe me you only make that mistake once...
