Do I need a magic band on the cruise

Ahoy, Kristi, and thanks for sailing by planDisney! It’s my joy to help a fellow Tennessean plan for their upcoming Disney Cruise.

If you’re like me, you likely have quite a few MagicBands from previous Disney Vacations. While those are fun to collect, you will not be able to use a traditional MagicBand on your cruise. Instead, I suggest you consider purchasing a DisneyBand+ for your upcoming trip. Last year was my first time using a DisneyBand+ and it both streamlined and enhanced my cruise experience!

Here are just a few reasons when I recommend ordering a DisneyBand+ before sailing:

    - It makes embarkation day and debarkation day a breeze, not to mention getting on and off the ship at the various ports of call.
    - Like the MagicBand, it just takes the flick of your wrist to pay on board and link photos to your shipboard account.
    - It’s waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about taking it off if you’re sliding down one of the water attractions or playing in the ocean.
    - It provides easy entry to your stateroom.
    - You’ll experience magical lights and haptic vibrations along with some of the entertainment in the dining rooms, kids clubs, and even fireworks!
    - And last but not least, not only is it rechargeable (and comes with a charging cable), but even when the battery is dead, you can still access your room, charge purchases, and link photos.

And although you cannot use your MagicBand on a Disney Cruise, you can use your DisneyBand+ at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. While there are designs you can purchase onboard, I suggest ordering your DisneyBand+ ahead of your sailing to maximize all the benefits I outlined above.

If you couldn't tell, I love my DisneyBand+ and I’m already considering what design I’ll purchase next. If you decide not to buy one, you will still be issued a Key to the World Card when you check in to make purchases, access your stateroom, and embark/disembark.

Kristi, I know this is just one thing to consider for your Disney Cruise. Should any other questions come up, don’t hesitate to reach back out to us here at planDisney!

    Embrace the magic,
