Does a 3 yo need a magic band?

    Hiya Ruth,

Welcome back to planDisney. I am so happy to see you here again with your MagicBand question. With your trip just a little over a month away, I can only imagine how excited you must be. There is nothing quite like trading snowy, chilly days for sunshine on Main Street, hearing the music play, and spotting Mickey and Minnie as you stroll into the park. That first castle view never gets old.

Let’s dive right into your question. A MagicBand is not required for anyone, including your three-year-old. As long as your child has a valid theme park admission, they can enter the park and use Lightning Lanes with a Key to the World card or  MagicMobile service. MagicBands are simply an easy and convenient hands-free option. I personally love them because they make it so simple to tap into the parks, access Lightning Lanes, unlock your Disney Resort hotel room, and even charge select purchases.

One of the extra fun features is how they interact in the parks. On select attractions and during certain nighttime shows, MagicBands will light up and change colors. It feels like wearing a little bit of pixie dust on your wrist. My girls especially love it when theirs light up during Journey Into Imagination with Figment. It is such a small surprise, but it brings the biggest smiles.

Since you will be visiting soon, I also need to mention the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival if it overlaps with your trip. The park is filled with stunning character topiaries, vibrant gardens, fresh and delicious food booths, and some really fun festival merchandise. Our family’s favorite is Butterfly Landing. It is a walk-through butterfly garden where you can observe and learn about butterflies in their natural habitat. One time, a butterfly landed on my daughter, and she still talks about it to this day. Every visit, she hopes it will happen again.

Ruth, I hope this helps answer your question and builds even more excitement for your upcoming trip. If you have any additional questions, you know where to find us.

    See you real soon,

    Christina
