Hiya Angelle,
Welcome to planDisney! As a mom currently nursing, I completely understand how important this question is for you in enjoying your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Earlier this year, I visited Walt Disney World with my then-two-month-old and spent a lot of time thinking about pumping and storing my breast milk during the five days I was there.
As Angelle, I'm sure your initial research has shown, depending on which Walt Disney World Resort hotel you are staying in, you can expect to either have an
in-room refrigerator (in a Deluxe Villa) or a small beverage cooler (in all other resort hotel rooms). The fridge is similar to a standard refrigerator you would find in your home (with a freezer) and the beverage cooler; while it can get as cold as 41 degrees Fahrenheit, it is not the greatest for storing breastmilk. I found that what I pumped stayed cool but never really got frozen the way it would at home. You mentioned that you were aware of the option to contact
Bell Services at your resort hotel regarding storing milk at the front desk. Unfortunately, this is likely the best option for your trip. I reached out to a Cast Member (and then called another to confirm), and both of them reported that there is not currently a way to request a medical-grade freezer for your resort hotel room. You can ask a Cast Member at the front desk when you arrive if they have an alternative solution for you, but there is no guarantee that they will be able to provide an in-room option.
I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, Angelle. As a mom myself, having to wait until I got to my resort hotel to figure out if there was an option would not be an ideal situation. I recommend having a backup solution so that you can securely prepare for your trip. The first option, of course, is to see if you can store your breast milk in labeled and waterproof containers at Bell Services. The second option I chose for my trip was to upgrade to a room with an in-room refrigerator. I know that's not always the most budget-friendly option, but it enabled me to have peace of mind, and I was able to find a deal that aligned with my travel dates on the special offers page of the website. Another option I considered was using a breast milk shipping company. Many of them provide refrigerated coolers designed to keep your milk safely cooled, which would be great for a short trip. The bonus would be that you could also ship any milk home to Louisiana without having to travel with it. I hope this was helpful. If there's anything else I can do, please don't hesitate to come back and see
us! I want to ensure that you have a magical vacation.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
